Shawn’s had a bad tooth for a while now, and after quitting his job and losing his insurance it’s only proceeded to get worse. By worse, I mean really really bad. I’m starting to freak out because a tooth abscess can be major shit and there’s not a whole lot we can afford to do about it. I’ve been trying to get him to just go to the dentist/doctor anyway and Les even reminded me of a program here that helps people get health care without insurance, but at this point he’s in so much pain he can hardly see straight.
I’ve made about ten thousand phone calls today trying to round up prices so that I can go home and say, “Look, this is how much it cost to be examined please, please will you go? PLEEEEAAASEEEEE?”
He is just so miserable that it’s making me miserable and angry that I can’t fix it.

It’s really hard to see loved ones in pain. Does he actually want to get it checked out? I hope everything gets better soon.

He does, but he doesn’t want to deal with the huge bill from getting it fixed. I’m like screw it, who cares!

This is probably an inappropriate time to bring up the woes of our health care system… So I’ll just say I hope that you guys can find somewhere affordable and that he does something about it soon! I hope he feels better!

Go to the ER and never pay..like I do! hahaahaha.
He really needs to get that shit fixed ASAP. Mom had one of those and her dentist BITCHED HER OUT for letting it get so bad because of the infection possibly heading upwards to the brain, or swallowing the infection this making them sick.

Almost had him out the door tonight to go to the ER in H’ville because, like you said, we can get in and out and never actually pay… haha, but at the last minute he changed his mind and said, “We’ll go tomorrow.”
Tomorrow I’m dragging his ass.

I hope he is willing to go on his own if not have fun dragging him to the er.
regarding your post, I have also left my christmas lights up all year before and I’m hoping to do the same this year(well at least leave the string of lights on the roof) for the lights in the garden they will come inside..

Do remind him that tooth problems are always a big thing and can lead to bigger things. I know how expensive dentistry is, but if there’s one part of your body that you simply can’t ignore when it’s ails, it’s your mouth.

The longer it takes him to get it sorted out, the worse it’ll get. And the bigger your bills will be when it gets urgent that he has something done about it! It must be rubbish seeing him in so much pain. I guess you’re thinking of investing in insurance in case of future things like this…

Man, tooth problems are definitely the worst ever. I hope you guys get it all worked out and he gets it taken care of. We have some programs here that help, like a free clinic and what not.
Try looking around for a dental college in your area. They usually only charge the price of the supplies used and not for actual work. That’s what my aunt does.
