Two years ago this week, I started working at my current job as a designer. Our office is downtown, so you can imagine how many fast food places there are in the area. For two years straight, I’ve had fast food for lunch at work, almost every. single. day. There was a stint when I first stopped smoking where I tried to bring my lunch every day, but for some reason I didn’t stick with it and went back to my normal fast food ways.

I’ve put on a bit of weight in the last few months, and I’m sure it’s from all that fast food, beer, and Shawn making really big delicious meals for dinner. I’ve cut back on the drinking already, and close to three weeks ago I started packing my lunch for work and drinking more water throughout the day. Only unlike last time, I’m actually enjoying it. Cutting out the fast food wasn’t solely to lose weight but mostly because I’m sick of it. I’ve had it so much that it doesn’t even taste good anymore, like eating a trashcan for lunch.

I don’t know if it’s made any difference in terms of my weight, but I have noticed that it is easier to get up in the morning. If you know me well you know that this is probably the greatest struggle of my day. I don’t even have to be at work until 10am, and I go to bed at a decent hour every night. Yet, I rarely to never could make it to work on time. I never understood, how could that be possible?

Almost immediately after I quit fast food, I was getting up with my alarm that I previously fought with every morning. I can now wake up in time to shower, eat breakfast, and pack my lunch most every day.

And did I mention it’s like a billion times cheaper?
