The story of Lola Bean

I’ve been meaning to write about this because it is a rather interesting story, and a perfect example to back up my theory that every thing happens the way it is supposed to. As you may or may not know, my dog Lola Bean is the love of my life. She is spoiled rotten and I like it that way. She is the sweetest, cutest, BEST BEST BEST dog I’ve ever laid my brown eyes on. I love her, lots.

When it was getting close to the time that I felt I needed to move out of the house I grew up in, I knew I would have to get a dog, have to. However, the person I was moving in with already had a cat, and was not fond of the idea of bringing a dog in the household. I was pretty bothered by this but after a little while shit began to hit the fan and she moved out.

Before all her stuff was even out of my house I had already started scouring the internet to find my puppy. I wasn’t sure what kind of dog I wanted, it just had to be small. Eventually I found a 6 month old Beagle about 30-45 minutes (drive) away from my house. I was a little worried because this dog was very scared, of everything. When we got back home with her, before I could even get her into the house she was stuck, hiding under my car. I thought for sure this dog would never love me. Haha.

It just so happens that on that very day we were going to be painting my bed room “Royal Purple” so I left for Lowe’s to get paint and supplies while Paul stayed home with the new puppy dog… But when I got home with the paint and things, the house was unlocked, Paul is nowhere to be found, and neither is the dog. And oh no, the leash was still hanging on the doorknob…

It turns out that the Beagle ran away, and later I found out that’s just what Beagles do. She ran across the interstate and was hiding in the grass on the shoulder of the exit ramp. This was some tall grass, and we searched for her for hours. Almost catching her once, but she just ran some more. For almost three days I circled the interstate as many times as I could looking for this dog. Eventually on my way home from school I saw her in the shoulder, I guess she’d tried to cross and got hit.

After being depressed for a while and thinking I just wasn’t meant to have a dog, I decided SCREW THE ODDS; I’m going to find another one. After only having that pup for all of 2 hours, the urge for a dog didn’t subside. So I started the search all over again. We saw a post from a lady saying that three puppies had been left on her doorstep, so we hightailed it out to Lyles, TN (wherever the hell that is) and got Lola Bean. She was the only one left.

I swear I thank God every day for blessing me with her. I know it is a pretty twisted story, and it saddens me to think that the runaway Beagle had to die in order for Lola to be a part of my life but sometimes things just have a tragic way of working out.

Wow, Lola Bean is so sweet! She looks a lot like Delilah, especially what Delilah looked like when she was a puppy. You said she was part dachshund, I’m curious as to what the other part is :) Delilah isn’t full dachshund. She’s a ChiWeenie ;) A chihuahua/dachshund. She’s my darling!
